So it's the first week of my Winter Break and it's gonna last 'til the second to last week of January.  I know it's been a while since I was here and a lot happened, so this entry might be a long one.

To be honest, this Fall semester was probably the fastest in progression.  I had a full schedule with my six classes and on-campus job and though it gave me a ton of work, it was all beneficial and productive.
It was definitely a new experience working as a section editor for the school paper.  It was a whole new level compared to being a staff writer and cartoonist.  Many of my fellow section editors were new members while my editor-in-chief and layout editor had prior experiences with the organization.  We received an outstanding amount of brand-new writers, so much that we didn't have enough room in our staff box.  Though a large portion of the team were very green, we were able to pull off our planned schedule and expand our variety in topics.  As the oldest (in time with the paper) member, I am very impressed with what we have accomplished.  It was tough getting used to working in such time constrains and micro-managing.  Sadly it was our adviser's last semester with us.  She was the very reason the paper has reached greater goals and she was the reason I stayed interested in journalism.  It's bittersweet looking forward, but I believe that we're in good hands.  She did pick the new guy after all.

I ended up making an unexpected friend this semester.  It was my Fantasy/Sci-Fi lit class professor.  That class was the best.  I was practically studying all that I already loved.  And the fact that both of us were Whovians, perfection.  I sadly couldn't participate in discussions because I worried if I would spoil stuff.  I literally wrote a fanfic for an assignment and had papers on Doctor Who.  I ended up sending her emails, discussing further about the lectures and it was all fun.  I'm gonna miss that class ;A;

In the middle of all of the commotion of classes, I was able to attend and work at some fall conventions.  I rarely go during fall and winter, but I ended up this year.  I worked at San Diego Comic Fest's artist alley and met some wonderful people.  It really inspired me to get more of my work out, especially my stories.  From that, I covered both Stan Lee's Comikaze Expo and the Long Beach Comic and Horror Con for my newspaper.  Used some of my skills I learned from my photography class to get some great shots of the conventions.

I guess the thing in the end that made the biggest impact was my Process of Art class.  It was taught by one of my professors that I've had previously.  While some of the smaller assignments were a pain, it really pushed me to go further.  We ended the semester with an art show and it was just amazing to see everyone's work up.  A number of the art department faculty showed up including my old photoshop class professor.  I showed him my work and he asked if the scholarship helped me.  I realized he was one of the people that recommended me as a recipient for an art scholarship I got around midterms.  I really had to hold in the tears because it really was a sign, a confirmation that this was the right path for me.  I knew that I'd be paying the price for my mistakes, but I wouldn't want to change my past if I couldn't have experienced all that I have along the way.  Overall, this crazy semester has been rewarding and I hope it continues so for the rest of the academic year.  It's going to be a long time before I graduate, but I'll get there.

Summer Wrap-Up

3 min read
Well, this is my last week of summer for me.  To tell you the truth, this is probably the busiest one I've had by far but has been filled with a ton of fun.  It's the main reason why I have been neglecting dA ;n;
I'll be finishing up my internship in Charity Wings Art Center.  I have mostly been helping out with paperwork and files while also fixing up their warehouse.  During the semester, I'll be stopping by at least once as week to continue my usual job.  They are truly a diamond in the rough with their resources to the community especially to North County artists and crafters.  I'm also continuing with helping out Gam3rCon.  We're already planning for 2014 and I just want to say thanks to those that stopped by this year's conventions :D  Though the main event is during SDCC weekend, there will be several game days and smaller events for all to participate.  I'll post more information once they're out.
This upcoming semester is going to be a bit crazy.  I'm most likely going to be on campus than at home, considering I'm going to be the school newspaper Arts & Entertainment editor.  It's going to be a whole new level compared to my usual involvement as either a cartoonist, writer, and/or intern for them.  Sadly, it means I will be participating less with the Arts Association.  I've already passed on my role to very capable hands and will always be a helping hand as they continue this dear student organization.  Hopefully all of the summer recruiting I've been doing for both of these groups will bring in fresh faces and talent to create a wonderful start.
I do have do have another portion of news I am very excited to tell y'all :D  I'll be at this year's San Diego Comic Fest!  I got a table in their Artist's Alley and hopefully will get some new comic-themed prints out.  This is going to be a new experience for me since I usually work at anime conventions.  I am an avid comic book fan so don't count me out yet ;3  Hopefully by then, my little webcomic experiment on tumblr will be ready.  We'll see.  Just mentioning all this makes me tired @.@ but I still have a lot to do before I return to the school grind.

So tomorrow (7/20), I have my last full shift down at Gam3rCon in the 10th Avenue Theatre, next to Hodad's.  If you're there and catch me at the official merch table in the lobby, you can get a free mini-sketch from me ((as long as I'm not busy with customers)).

On Sunday 7/21, I'll actually be at SDCC roaming the exhibit hall, doing my usual sunday con sweep.  To the first three that catch me there around the SDCC area, before 5pm, will win special custom badges from me.  After that, winners will get mini-sketches.  Just look for a short and stout teapot  filipino girl wearing a black Carol Corps t-shirt…

Unless you are part of my carpool or have arranged a meeting with me beforehand, you're a qualified participant.

Catch me if you can ;3

Summer Update

2 min read
Sorry I haven't been on here since my summer break started.
I've actually been pretty busy since I started my internship.  It's with Charity Wings Art Center, which is across from my school.  They're just settled in the area this March and have a lot to offer :D  I mostly do office work, but also help them with large projects.  The facility has a lot of offer with sewing stations, metalsmithing, scrapbooking material, and so much more :D  If you're ever in the San Marcos area, feel free to stop by.  I'm usually there Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
I've also been working on a number of gallery submissions for various shows in San Diego.  The first one will be on July 9th, an 8-Bit Tribute show.  The second will be featured in Gam3rcon 2013 and the last will be a Street Fighters tribute, both during SDCC.  The 8-Bit is one piece, Gam3rcon's an 8-part piece and got 2 4-part pieces and a 3-part piece for Street Fighters.  They're all due soon and it's definitely a juggle between art and work.  I'm also going to SDCC on Sunday, so there will be a "Catch-Me-If-You-Can" contest and it'll be a special one since I haven't been there is a couple of years.  Hopefully I'll be volunteering for Gam3rcon that weekend.
So yeah, I think this summer will be a very productive one.  Once all my art's done, I'll upload them here.  I'll be back to set up the SDCC contest.  Have a wonderful summer :D
If y'all want to keep up with me outside of dA, feel free to either follow my personal blog or my art blog.

Pardon the neglect, this semester actually this academic year has been crazy busy.  There's been so many art projects I've been involved in in and outta my classes, especially since I was elected as my school's Art Association president.  I just recently passed my role to a dear friend in the club, but my job's not done yet @.@  I'll be taking care of the student org's showcase gallery show with my adviser.  At the moment, it seems like a majority will be photography, but we'll see once the submissions are brought in.
Right now, I'm working of a ton of final projects, including a comic for my Arts, Science and Tech class.  It's going to be like an enlargement of my "Student A" newspaper comic strips and will be including photos I've taken of my campus.  At the moment, my Digital Drawing class finally dipped our toes into animation.  We're just starting when the semester's ending ;A;  but still... finally get to do something fun in that class.  Our latest assignment is to create a quick rotoscope using some of our past works.  Here's mine and more info can be found in the description box.  Honestly, I nearly lost my mind after my computer on my station froze for a time... and it's probably why it's a bit wonky.   I ended up working on that the day it was assigned so I wouldn't lose my drawing vibes if I procrastinated.  But yeah, gonna a bit busy 'til mid-May with school.  It'll probably be a year more or many be two before I graduate, but I'm definitely enjoying my time and gaining so much experience.
Btw, I know this is very late, but I just want to thank everyone that stopped by thehorchatacrew's table down at Anime Conji 2013.  At the moment, AM2 will be the next convention for the team.
I'll be uploading more work as the semester finishes.
Seeya then ;3
